Back in 2016, I had been creating some cardigan sweaters, called shrugs. It was a pretty easy pattern; straight knit into a large rectangle, then sew some seams. I had beautiful charcoal grey, followed by a deep purple one.
In perusing the yarn I had in my stash, to make another shrug, I picked out what I thought was a variegated pink yarn. As I began knitting, and the rectangle grew, I started to see a striped pattern in the yarn becoming pronounced. The stripes were going to be vertical in the shrug, not horizontal. Not quite the look I was going for. (Big sigh!)
I really didn’t want to unravel all the knitting I had done. At first, it felt like a waste of time. However, I know now, it’s never a waste of time to knit – 1. The relaxation it brings 2. Any designing is trial and error, so you learn from any mistakes 3. It’s prime for another unique design.
The more I stared at what I had knit, an idea popped into my head. Queue the “happy accident.”
I did some measurement research, finished a little more knitting then sewed up a couple seams and added a cute button. Voila! Our very first Baby Sleep Sack was born. In 360 degree snuggliness of a cocoon, your baby will be warm, comfortable and looking cute.
Once I had the pattern down, I found the perfect yarn. It was by Bernat yarn, called Pipsqueak. An extremely fully, soft yarn that just begs to be cuddled with. It creates a coziness that brings warmth and comfort to the baby.

About six years ago, I think it was, the Pipsqueak yarn was being discontinued. Much sadness! I tried to stock up as much as I could, however, I knew it was going to run out, eventually. That yarn was perfect for the Sleep Sack. Now, I must figure out how to continue to make the “happy accident” turned one the shop’s favorite items.
